I’m a newly promoted "Artificial Intelligence Scientist" at Pearson Electronics — Ask Me Anything!

Hi Internet!

I’m really happy to say that I’ve recently been promoted to the position of Artificial Intelligence Scientist at the AI department of Pearson Electronics, and I thought this would be a fun opportunity to answer any questions you might have about the role, the industry, or AI in general!

Feel free to ask me about:
What it’s like working at Pearson Electronics
The evolution of AI in consumer tech
How Pearly AI and similar systems are developed

While I’d love to share as much as I can, please note that I’m bound by confidentiality agreements, so I won’t be able to discuss sensitive or unreleased projects. General questions, however, are fair game!

This is so exciting, congratulations! I’ve got a question for you: What do you think about Pearson Electronics’ shift towards a stronger focus on artificial intelligence? Do you believe this is a smart move for the company, or do you think they should return to their roots? And do you genuinely think AI is the future of tech?

Yeah, I really think AI is the future! I’ve seen tech go from super simple computers to what we have today, and since working at Pearson Electronics, I’ve realized AI is all about helping people AS LONG as it's being used the right way! I think Pearson’s heading in the right direction, personally. Thank you for the question!

can you confirm the rumors about the ai robots Pearson's making? a lot of people have been talking about it on Yappr for several years now and we wanna know more!

You should hold your breath; these are just rumors and I don't think Pearson's gonna be revealing stuff regarding robots for at least another few more years :(

duuuude they've been hinting it for YEARS now, you'd expect SOMETHING from them by now! hopefully the hype is worth it tbh.

do you think AI could eventually replace human jobs, or will it just make jobs more efficient?

It will probably do a little bit of both. AI will make work easier and faster by handling some tasks, but it won’t replace humans. People are still needed for things like creativity and emotional intelligence, which AI can’t fully do.

are there any secret partnerships or collaborations Pearson is working on that will change the future of AI??

Sorry to ruin it for you but you realize that's basically the same thing as being a computer scientist at Pearson, right? They're just rebranding a bunch of the old computer scientists as AI scientists to beef up that department since AI is their main focus now. You're probably still receiving the same pay and workload, nothing really different.

Will Pearly eventually be able to fully predict and control user behavior based on data collected from their devices?

honestly maybe. seeing as how Pearly is already super good at learning peoples' behaviors so quickly, its only a period of time until they can fully become sentient and "clone" somebody's personality.

With that being said, that begs another question: is there a possibility that Pearly could become sentient in the future, and if so, how does Pearson plan to manage the ethical and operational implications of that? Jcooper probably won't answer this but I want everybody else's thoughts on this.
